The township of Llanddewi Rhydderch grew around the small llan, or monastic cell named after St. David. St David's Church holds regular services every week. The present incumbent, Fr John Humphries, has served in the parish since 2012. In 2015 the church was successful in obtaining a National Lottery Grant to clear land at the back of the church to turn into a WW1 Memorial Meadow. The churchyard has a very old yew tree, which may be many centuries old and became a finalist in Woodland Trust Welsh tree of the year competition.
We are a part of the town of Abergavenny, where you’ll discover locally-produced food, great places to stay and fantastic scenery – the beautiful Black Mountains are the backdrop to Abergavenny in the south east corner of the Brecon Beacons National Park. The town is a great base for walking, cycling and just enjoying the great outdoors.

With its annual Abergavenny Food Festival, the town is also mecca for foodies – and there are plenty of gorgeous gastro pubs, ancient inns and restaurants to try in the surrounding countryside too. The town has regular markets where you can buy quality produce grown locally too.

Abergavenny has history and heritage in spades – come and explore our castles, medieval mansions, Roman remains and standing stones. We’ve got the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal on our doorstep and the Blaenavon World Heritage and Big Pit mine are just up the road.

Cycling, horse riding, train rides, golf are all on our doorstep. Naturally there is an abundance of walking routes to suit all levels in and around Abergavenny.

Restaurants, pubs, coaching inns, hotels, tea rooms, pizzeria, tapas bars, fish and chips businesses are waiting to serve their very best dishes in and around Abergavenny and the surrounding countryside .

Raglan Castle is just down the road and we’ve got Roman remains and modern industrial history like the World Heritage Centre at Blaenavon just up the road for History fans.

Rain stopped play? Not here! As well as eating, drinking and shopping in Abergavenny we’ve got a cinema, theatre, history trails and museums to keep you entertained on rainy days.

For walkers we are very close to the Sugar Loaf peak, with its relatively modest 596m, the summit of Sugar Loaf in the Brecon Beacons National Park encompasses much that is magical about mountains, hills and woodland that surround us.

Or for the more adventurous, you could try Pen y Fan which is one of the most popular of the 3 Welsh Peaks and is also in the Brecon Beacons National Park. Most visitors hike to the mountain top from Storey Arms – but for a quieter and more rewarding route, take the path up from Taf Fechan Forest.

Then in between and often overshadowed by its towering neighbour, Pen y Fan, this verdant mountain in the heart of the Brecon Beacons National Park in Wales is one of Britain's most understated peaks, Amid the lumps, bumps and rounded humps that form the ridgelines of the Brecon Beacons, sits Cribyn.

It’s the kind of peak a child may draw; pyramidal and stacked with brawn. Yet in spite of its mountain status, its summit is neither as high nor as insurmountable as you may imagine.

Cribyn, at 795m, sits 101m below the tallest peak in southern Britain, Pen y Fan. But far from inferior, the angular mount affords spectacular views over the surrounding countryside, making it well worth the climb.

If biking is more your thing then Explore the most popular mountain biking trails near Abergavenny.

Horse riding is another great thing to do in Abergavenny.

If relaxing is your main focus then just choose one of the fantastic locations surrounding our house or sit in the garden and take in the sounds of the beautiful countryside that surround you.

By car or walking is by far the most popular.

We do request that animals are now allowed upstairs and not encouraged in beds or furniture.
We also request all doggy mess is cleaned up from the garden before leaving .
